LASEK is the abbreviated form of laser epithelial keratomileusis.Basically it is the same technique as PRK, the difference being the removal of corneal epithelial cells is made after destabilising them with alcohol. Patients with thin corneae unsuitable for LASIK and patients complaining of dry eyes are good candidates for LASEK. The healing process is painful and longer then LASIK like PRK. The surrounding of the eyes is sterilised with Batticone and an anesthetical drop is dropped into the eyes before the beginning. A sterile drape and ecartor is placed to the operated eye to keep it open. The petient is told to the guiding light inside the device. The device settings and patients data are controlled as the eyetracker follows the eye mopvements and the procedure begins.
